Day 2: Exploring Old & New Delhi

After breakfast, your journey into the heart of India’s capital begins with an exploration of Old Delhi, a district steeped in centuries of history and culture.

Step into the bustling lanes of Chandni Chowk, one of India’s oldest markets, founded in the 17th century by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Its narrow alleys are alive with vibrant shops, aromatic street food, and architectural remnants of a bygone era. Continue to Kinari Bazaar, famous for its dazzling wedding adornments, embroidered fabrics, and handcrafted accessories. From here, walk into Dariba Kalan, a historic silver market known for its Mughal‑era charm and exquisite jewelry.

A traditional rickshaw ride through these lively streets offers a unique vantage point of Old Delhi’s timeless character. Along the way, you will pass by the magnificent Jama Masjid, India’s largest mosque, completed in 1656 and a masterpiece of Mughal architecture.

Your Old Delhi exploration continues with a drive past the imposing Red Fort, followed by a visit to Rajghat, the serene memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. After spending some reflective moments here, the tour transitions into the wide boulevards and grand vistas of New Delhi.

If time permits, you may also visit either the Lotus Temple, known for its striking flower‑like design and tranquil ambiance, or Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, an important Sikh temple renowned for its spiritual atmosphere and its community kitchen that serves meals to over 25,000 people daily.
